I have an '08 and after riding an '09 I've decided I'll have my '08 for a long time. I like the seating and ride better on the '08. I also have ABS and will never buy another bike without it (if available).

I went from an '07 SG to the '09 Ultra, and the difference (to me) was like night and day. The new frame, having ABS, hell, I don't even mind the TBW now that I've finally gotten used to it. And there have been some posts lately about dealers not wanting to give squat for pre-09 bikes since the new frames came out - I'd go with an '09-'10 if I were you. But hell, I've always been able to spend someone else's money - it's your choice!

Thanks for all the advise! I think I am going to hold out till I find an 09 or 10. I've been watching a few on ebay and craigslist. I think the prices will get a little better with winter right around the corner. Thanks again and when I pick up my new baby girl I'll be sure to post a pic or two. I told the wife she'd have her girl someday!

It really comes down to money. Every year they make improvements so you have to decide what your budget is going to be and figure out what the market will offer you in that range. The 2008 models added the 6 gallon tank, IDS, brembo brakes, stainless brake lines, throttle by wire and probably some other items I have forgotten. In 2009 the went to the new frame with the bolt on rear section, routed the exhaust under the frame and improved the gearing but the bike gained 50+ pounds in the process and a wider seat (may not matter based on inseam length). In 2010 they fixed the whiney 5th gear. In 2011 they went to the SE compensator and made a few other small changes. Bottom line is get as new as possible and with the lowest mileage that is within your budget. You and the little lady will be happy.
