Default Lower Fairing Vents

How do I keep the air vents in the lowers from blowing closed? I put them wide open and they close completely shut every time I ride. I hate to jam something in there to keep them open but I don't see any other solution. Ideas?

Thanks,

VR

I had the same problem. Take the vents out. Easy to do. I haven't had mine installed in four years. You still get good protection to your legs from the lowers and with the vents removed, IMHO, I think you get more air flow to the front cylinder.

The adjustment nut is inside the glove compartment.
It is on top of the bolt that runs vertically to the vent.
I think it was 7/16 or 1/2 "
Tighten the nut (clockwise) a quarter turn at a time and check the tension on the vent.
Just tighten it enough to do the job , it compresses a large rubber washer (tensioner) which engages teeth to set the positions.
When done properly , it will hold any position you choose , all day long as needed..

take the lowers apart and you can get to the nut
on the inside top of the vent piece itself and then you
can tighten it up a little at a time until you firm it
up to the desired resistance that fits you to a "T"

Outstanding....I was hoping there was an adjustment....made my day!

Thanks!,

VR

PS Tried 7/16" and 1/2" but neither fit....11mm socket fit perfect....thanks again.

Sure enough....there are liners inside the glove boxes....peel those back and there is the adjustment locknut....awesome.

They are probably not blowing closed; you are most likely hitting them with your feet.
Been there done that.

Even my size 14 gunboats haven't managed to get anywhere near the vents but thanks for the thought. Cinching down the lock nuts was the ticket.
