I wanted denim black REAL bad, then I rented one for a three day weekend I changed my mind and I'm very glad I didn't get it. I really missed the shine and quality of a good paint job. Plus everyone has one.

I love my denim black, I think it makes my SG look a little more on the hot rod side vs the other colors. Although, the other colors look sweet as well, especially with a painted to match inner fairing. Anyway, windex works nicely!

I love the denim paint. My first bike was a month and a half old, and had my buddy paint it flat black. With my denim pewter, its even easier to clean than that one. I use regular dish liquid, and a sponge. (you can use the "scrubby" side for the bugs), and pig spit for all the black stuff. detailed bike in 30-40 minutes.

I've had my black denim SG for a year now, and I've never actually "washed" it in the traditional sense. Easiest paint job to maintain that I've ever owned. No washing, waxing, and detailing for hours anymore. I now officially hate all chrome, and any other shiny ****.

I use Costco ammonia free glass cleaner and a T-Shirt to get any real crud off, and then I use denim paint cleaner/polish made by Harley (spray bottle) and another T-Shirt to "shine" her up. The Harley denim paint spray does a really nice job making the paint streakless, and the bike looks like new. The whole process takes 10-15 min, tops.

Pig Spit takes care of any powdercoated parts that need attention.

My Crimson red denim is by far the best color bike I have ever owned. It is a nightmare if you ever want to touch it up or repaint a piece. It does get a little glossy over time, I think it adds to the beauty. I would do it again. Just my 2 cents.

I have mixed feelings about the denim. Back in the 50's & 60's we would paint our cars flat black from a spray can. It was basically until we got around to painting. We called it hot rod black...and it just got to be the thing to do. It also covered up inprofection in sheet metal.

The first time I saw the denim I thought hot rod black...hummm. How would you keep it clean? I stopped washing my bike with soap and a garden hose after I discovered rust in various places on the old bike, like inside the rims. Water had seeped through the spokes and rust the inside, and other places. The newer bikes are weather proofed with plastic, solid wheels, etc. I do like the looks, but for some reason it looks unfinished to me. If it were me and I ended up with a denim, it would be black and I would probably add some flames.

Comes down to what you like. I think "Rat Bikes" are cool...not sure I would own one...what is cool is....it's all about what blows your hair.
