Question 96 vrs 110ci kit temp increase?

Im thinking about giving my SG some extra HPs ,..
In your opinnion how much does the temp increase between the 96ci with exhaust/fuel pack against a 103ci or 110ci se kit ?..considering using the bike for in any long or short rides....

Any opinnion or experience are more than welcome!!

I dont think my 124 with an oil cooler is noticably warmer than the 96 without one.

But then again I never whinged about the 96 either. The thing is air cooled. If you find yourself in traffic on a hot day, well, you are gonna be hot.

Dunno if you use ETMS (rear shutdown) on your 96, but once you go big cubes and big cams you cant turn the rear cyl off any more, it shakes the sheet outta the bike.

my high compression 103 is not noticeably hotter than when it was a 96" motor. i guess it could be because i'm not pushing the motor near as hard to go the same speed as i did when it was a 96, that's about all i can figure. by the way, a well built 103 will suck the headlight out of a stock s.e. 110 for a lot less money.

Not sure why you would say that you can't turn the rear cylinder off (EITMS) when it's too hot with a 110. My SE Ultra has a 110 and it comes standard with the EITMS turned on as do all factory 110's. It's noticeable when it's on (as it is on all bikes), but it doesn't really shake anymore than it does when both cylinders are running. I'm currently running a .650 cam and the EITMS does occasionally come on and it really doesn't shake all that much. The "lope" is just different with only 1 cyl. firing.

Thats interesting. I rode a stock SE Ultra with a SE110 and it was extremely underwhelming. I am not surprised you can run it on one cyl, but your wood cams and the S&S 640 have very similar timing. I am surprised you can run your motor on 1 cyl.

Must be the 4 5/8 stroke that makes my bike shake like crazy.

I'll say beefing up your 96 to a 103 is the way to go. All though, you might want to consider putting in a beefier cam kit while you have the jugs being bored.

The EITMS doesn't activate very often as my 2010 SEUC runs nice and cool. The few times it has come on it's noticeable but not necessarily uncomfortable or vibrating extensively. It just feels and sounds different with only 1 cyl firing at idle.

A well tuned 110" should run cooler than a 96" that isn't. Remember, the twin cams have fins that better cool the motor and the oiling system cools the piston skirts. That causes the heat to dissipate better from critical parts and radiate out. The engine feels hotter when it is in reality cooler inside than an evo or shovel. Tuning is the key to reducing heat.
