Default 21/18 wheel set up question

I just got my new wheels installed on a 2010 SG. 21 inch in front 18 rear. Problem is the entire bike has been raised due to the tires Im running. 140/70-21 front and rear 180/55-18. Now I have to put on fender brackets to install my stock fender which raises it by 2 inches. If I drop the front end by 1 inch Im running the chance of hitting the fender into the triple trees. The rear cant be lowered using Harley shocks because the SG is already lowered using their shocks.

Any imput would really help out. I would like that lowered look. Plus Im 5'9 and im just flat footing the bike. I can even keep my heels raised.

Arnott air ride for the back. Leave the front stock height.

I just went with the same wheel size combo on my 2009 Street Glide, but I installed the Progressive monotube cartridge lowering kit on the front and it lowered my bike 1.5 full inches. I also switched over to Motul 15w heavy duty fork oil at the same time I installed the wheels and the combo of the Progressive kit and the heavy duty fork oil prevents any chance of bottoming out or causing the front fender to contact the triple trees.

Hope this info helps. If you need a set of the Progressives, let us know. We have them on sale!

Thanks!

Shawn

The roads here suck with lots of dips and bumps. I was worried about lowering the front end 1 inch let alone 1.5 inches. Oh well I guess the next best thing would be to order a seat that is about 1 inches lower and see how that goes first. Then try air suspension

Why do you have to install fender brackets for your front tire. Shouldn't have to. You should be able to rotate your existing fender to accommodate the clearance you need or slightly enlarge the fender mounting holes. The back shocks can be lowered to with after market shocks. I run Bitchen Bagger shortened Harley air shocks. They work just fine. I'm 5'7" and I use their 10 3/4 shocks. You give up some ground clearance but the ride is very acceptable.

^+1 No need to add brackets to the front fender.

The HD 1" front lowering kit comes with heavier springs to help keep from bottoming out. I ride two up at about 400 lbs total and never bottom.
You should have went with the Avon 120/70/21 which allows use of the stock front fender by simply drilling out the rear fender mounting holes to 3/8" and rocking the fender forward while tightening it down. I believe you can do the same mod to the front fender and use the 140 front but IMO the 120 looks better.
