Fuel-Moto Jackpot Quiet Baffle Question
#21
Here is some information on some recent dB tested we have performed for our Jackpot Dyno Tuned mufflers along with the optional Jackpot Competiton baffles and Jackpot Tunable Quiet baffle. These tests were performed using SAEJ2825 test procedures using a JTW digital sound meter. The test bike was a 2009 Touring model with stock headpipes and Stage 1 air cleaner.
I forgot to say these numbers were originally posted by Jamie from Fuelmoto.

I tried to put the quiet baffles in without getting the original packing out. After getting quiet baffles properly installed on both sides I find the sound a little lower in pitch but just as loud as before. With the little inserts in I find the sound too quiet. So unless you want very quiet I would not recommend the quiet baffle kit. I may try to make the little inserts myself with a little bigger openings.

The Jackpot Dyno Tuned mufflers have a unique asymmetric baffle system that is designed with a anti-reversion cone/reducer in the left baffle. The Tunable Quiet baffle has been specifically designed to be installed in the right hand muffler, in conjunction with the standard Dyno Tuned left baffle in place. This baffle has a chambered design that will reduce sound but still flows very well. The included removable Silent Insert is designed for times when you are looking for a minimal dB level, however you will see slighly less performance as this is much more restrictive. I recommend leaving this insert out for best results and best sound. Some have used the Quiet baffle in both mufflers with good results, however this is not something we have tested.

I am taking longer and longer trips on my Road King which is equiped with the Stage one kit from Fuel-Moto, (Power Commander V, Stage One Intake & Jack Pot Mufflers)
I starting to find the muffles a little on the loud side on the longer trips. So, I'm thinking about getting a Quite Baffle.
I looked on Fuel-Moto's site for the instructions for installation but could not find a referance to them.
I'm hoping Jamie will chime in and may post instructions and pictures of there installation.
The Db number are nice to look at but everyones ears are different.

I recently added the quiet baffle to my 2010 FLTK and without instructions managed to mangle the packing because I neglected to get all the previous packing out with the original baffle. I went to a motorcycle shop and picked up some 4 stroke mat baffle and cut and wrapped the new quiet baffle with it. I left the insert in for now and it has a nice sound. I will try it without the insert soon but can't comment on that right now. I tried to do the install without pulling the muffler off but had a hard time getting the bolt lined up. It is much easier just to pull the muffler off, remove the old baffle and packing and then inserting the new baffle. It should slide in without too much effort. If the packing slips over the far end it will jam. I am not much of a wrench but managed to do the whole Fuel Moto Stage 1 without too much trouble. Good luck.

'07 96" with jackpots and stage 1 sounded great. Nice sound. Crank took a crap and I built a 103" w/ 10.25 compression and Woods TW-7 cams. Sounded awful. Like a Jap V-Twin w/ open pipes. Very intense and painful. Installed Quiet BAffle and the sound is back to the way it sounded before. Haven't put the silent baffle in.
