Fatboy has cool factor, an RK done up right gives them a run for the money. SG's on the other hand, with some great customization can be among the best for cool and comfort.

I have had both (07 FB and 09 SG). You know what would help restore some of the FB coolness - put some shake into the 96B motor. I realize it is a solid mounted bike, but the counterbalancer could leave some shake at idle. My $.02.

You may be reading more questions about the SG because you are reading the Touring forum. Just a guess.

My first Harley was a Fatboy that I loved and have for many years before trading it in. While I had it, I loved it, but now I love my new Street Glide because it's got the little extras like cruise and a radio.

Cool factor? All bikes have cool factor.
I never was a big fan of the Fatboy, always liked the Heritage better (for that type of bike).
I looked at Street Glides but spent my money on an Ultra.
Seem to be a lot of people buying Street Glides then adding the comforts and conveniences of the Ultra to them.
But yes, for people who buy a bike as a fad or fashion statement, the Street Glide is now the one to get and has been for a couple of years.
I understand in 2015 the SOA Dyna will be the bike to buy.

I love my SG, but if I could afford a second bike, it would be a black denim Fat Boy Lo.

I think the fat boy has faded a bit, how could it not being that everybody and there brother had one for the last 15 years. The street glides are a fad and they too will fade as time passes. Both nice bikes though!

i don't think the fatboy has lost its cool factor at all. it's just that since the fatboy originally came out, we've had so many other choices like the dyna fat bob, crossbones, streetglide, etc. if anything i suppose it's lost in the crowd of other cool bikes.

Thank you for your reply's so far they are certainly varied .... As one person said Street Glides are a fad and the bike of the moment ... I love both styles of bikes but i think they will certainly continue for many years to come ....
