Never been left stranded by any of my 4 Harleys - knocking on wood as you read this...as i've got a trip planned to ride the Dragon in two weeks - solo.

 

Got stranded for the first time today. Seems I left my key fob in my backrest roll bag next to the bike. Got to town and when I tried to crank it ... uh oh.

Now I know how it responds when you drive it out of range of the fob. Somebody could steal it and drive across country as long as they don't switch it off. Killer alarm system!!

 

Yep...95,on way home from Sturgis...80FLT...around 120k....Stator went out in Mitchel SD....J&L Harley out of Sioux Falls picked me up(HOG Member),Had me on the way home to Fargo ND nxt day....

 

30+ years nor can i recall anyone i know being left stranded...

 

Never stranded on my 08, SG 50k miles. But going on a road trip with my brothers in o8 one of them has a 90 Low Rider and the shifter linkage broke. We were stranded for a hour while we fixed it with a piece of wire we found on the side of the road. Fixed it 200 miles later when we found a HD dealer.

I was stranded at 4 a.m. on a Sunday morning between Texline Texas and Clayton New Mexico on highway 87. I was cruising at about 65 to 68 mph with the cruise control set and listening to the stereo on my Ultra Classic that only had 5900 miles on it when everything just stopped working, including the engine.

I have no idea what the code was once I got it to a dealership. But I do know, they said they could not determine what caused it. The accessory fuse was blown. The cleared the code, replaced the fuse and sent me on my was.

It did the same thing on the return trip home just outside of my home town. After getting it running again, I sold it. The guy I sold it to said, "oh, I know what cause that to happen" and never had another problem. It was a pinched kill switch wire.

So much for Harley Davidson service. The worst thing about this scenario is, I bought another one. Go figure!

 

30K on the Fat Boy and 2k on the RKC. Never failed to get me where I was going or failed to start. That is my biggest worry, going out to the bike in the morning and the battery failed overnight. So far, knock on wood, zero major issues. I did burn out a passing light and broke some vent tubes on a trip to Sturgis, but really thats about the most serious issues I have ever had away from home.

 

I've never been stranded at all. My daughter would say that she was stranded on the back of my Ultra when the passenger volume control failed and she had to listen to Mozart for 3 hours, lol. Of course, now that I've tempted fate, I'll probably be stranded tomorrow.
