Default 07 flht

gentlemen

I'm new to this forum and just bought an 07 FLHT been riding metric bike most of my life. My question is I bought an extra 5 years warranty for around 2000 $ is it worth it or is my 2 years warranty good enought. Most of my fellow riders tell me I'm going to need it.Any thought on this.

Roger.

It's a gamble whether or not you'll need it. But one things for sure, it makes it a lot easier selling your bike later on if you have an Extended Warranty.

Congrats on the new ride!

The Extended wattanty is "usually" a way dealerships try to get more $$$.

The typical Harley owner ends up adding things, like engine mods, that can jeapordize the validity of warranties ~ both factory nad/or extended. If you keep a decent relationship with your dealership AND they are decent, they will probably work with you either way.

If you decide you don't want / need the extended warranty, you can always sell it back. As mentioned above, it can help when the time comes to sell.

2K Wow! I paid 1300.00 for 7 years on my 02, You do know you can wait till the last day of your factory warranty to buy the extended, and you can buy it from any HD dealer, some will sell cheaper cause is marked up to hell and back. Another thing, look at your end date, most extended warranties run concurent with your factory one, so you may have only got 3 years extra coverage.

The extended warranty is a personal decision. I have not bought an extended warranty on anything I have bought. I would use the $2,000 for something else.

Is there any advantage to getting an extended warranty earlier rather
than later? If it's not a lot cheaper up front, I can't see why everyone
wouldn't just wait until the 2 year is about to expire before extending it.
2k for an extended warranty sounds outrageous. I think they quoted
me $1300 for an extra 5 years(7 total) on my '06 in April.

Personally, i would save the $2000 for the important stuff like true duals and serious performance enhancements. On the other hand, some people feel better with the "piece of mind" the ext. warranty gives. I did not go for the ext warranty with my new FLH.

Maybe I paid a little too much, dont through any thing at me. I paid about 2600 for the seven year unlimited mileage warranty that include the first 5 services and tire and wheel coverage. I would rather have the peace of mind and deductible if something goes south. I had to replace a rear shock on my 2002 road king and the warranty came in handy.

You made your dealer very happy. If you even think you are going to purchase one of those warranties then tell them no at least 2 times. You will be surprised how much less you will have to pay when they come back with a lower figure and they will. They made 3 different offers to me in Jan. when I bought my bike and they couldn't believe it when I turned them down after their last and final offer. I've never bought an extended warranty and never will on any vehicle or anything else for that matter. They are as bad as most car dealers if not worse.
