Totally surprised!!
Specs:2009 Street Glide saddle bag lock.Drove to work today, while unlocking the right side saddle bag lock, I noticed the locking cam was spinning 360 degrees.I looked down on the ground and found the spring.Apparently the jam nut and the lever that rotates and locks the lid to the saddle bag fell off while I was riding to work.Has anyone else experienced this problem? On further investigation, I looked at the left side lock.I saw, there is nothing to keep the jam nut from backing off the locking cam. There is no locktite , nothing. You would think HD would make sure the nut couldn't back off.I guess not.
Does anyone know if it is possible to purchase the jam nut and the locking lever separately? Part numbers would be appreciated.
Also, would this qualify as a warranty issue?
Anyone with hard bags, Do yourself a favor, Make sure those jam nuts are on good.

yeah, it happened to me as well with my 2008 SG. Went to the local dealer, cost me about 5$ at most to replace the parts and put them on myself. All of that shakin' and banging is cool, but it loosens things up that we don't intend to be loose. Just another thing to keep an eye on. Ride Hard!

I had the lock on my right bag come apart while I was unlocking it (in my garage, thankfully). I found all the parts (the tumblers are small, and spread far...), but the dealer ordered a new lock and installed it under warranty. I got a bonus key out of the deal (same as the original two), so that was nice.
Hmm, that reminds me. I need to go add my dealer to the "good dealers" thread...

i've not had that problem but i did have the main spring that operates the hinge break. they're a pain to replace but it's do-able if you're even a little bit handy with tools. my saddlebag hinge was acting strange not popping out like it should and i discovered it was the spring that helps push the hinge outwards while opening the bag. they keep it in stock at the harley shops.

on front and rear mounting brackets i removed the mounting bolts, and reinstalled them with blue loctite, on the rear mounts i replaced the quick release with 5/16" x 1 1/2" stainless steel bolts, fender washers and lock nuts; it only takes a minute longer to remove saddle bags and now i don't worry about them falling off.

Check Those Nuts Guys
The nuts that hold the lock cylinders on the bags that is. The others can be checked by your SO's.
After reading the first post, I went and checked mine and they were just finger tight. I could remove them with my fingers. Used some blue loc-tite and a 7/16" socket and tightened em up.
Leaving for Skyline Drive in the AM and didn't want no surprises like finding parts laying next to my bike.
