What's the best Wide White wall in your opinion?
Have an 05 FLHT running Dunlop White Walls right now, and they're fine. Thing is, on all the bikes I've ever had, I've never had anything besides Dunlops. Are the Metzlers that much better, or does Avon make a White Wall? Michellin? I understand that the compounds are supposed to be softer, and so they grip better, right? I ride mostly 2 up, 1/2 highway, 1/2 local, and not aggressive at all. If they really feel better going around a corner or doing a u turn, I'll try em, but if it's just when hittin the twisties at 80, I don't need em. Thanx.

+1 Nice tires. Look and ride great. Retro looking, and really cool on the right bike. I've never ridden the Metzler, but supposedly they last a bit longer. Also consider the Avon Venom.

My experiences:
- Avon Venoms - stickiest smoothest and lasted just a bit less than Metzlers. Cost more than Metzlers, best performance.
- Metzlers - sticky, smooth, last fewer miles than a harder tire like Dunlops, Cost more than Dunlops, great performance.
I run only the two above in black walls.
- Avon Gangster Wide Whites - widest white wall section i have found, look extra retro hot!, wear very good, great performance, has inline tread pattern which you can see on their site pics, again, very retro yet great performance. The kicker issue for some is they only come in a 130 size. Same tire for front n back you just have to mount them 180* of each other per arrow indicators on the side wall. So same tire is used for front n rear, on is just turned to rotate the opposite of the other. I have these on my RoadStar and I love them and the look! Not cheap! The narrow 130 width is no big deal to me given the performance and the fantastic looks. Most guys couldn't tell you if they were rolling on a 130 width or a 180. Tire width increments are so minute that a couple jumps in sizes are not that noticeable, other than maybe in the wallet.
