Default New Road Glide Part for buffeting

As seen on the HD web site Here

asy-to-install, these snap-fit Wind Deflectors reduce and redirect the air flow that rises between the fairing and fork tubes. The resulting reduction in updraft can dramatically reduce buffeting for many riders. Stock on '11 CVO™ Road Glide®.

57000063

Fits '09-later FLTR and FLTRU models. (Will not fit models equipped with the Fuel Tank retrofit mounting kit.)

MSRP US $29.95

Think they will work? For $30 I might find out soon.

What do they mean by "Fuel Tank retrofit mounting kit"? Is that the tank mount recall we had on our 09's?

I honestly have no idea, but I would have to assume so. I'm still going to give them a try and see what happens.

It makes no sense that the fuel tank recall issue has anything to do with these wind deflectors. JMHO

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 09V457000

Summary:
HARLEY-DAVIDSON IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2009 AND 2010 TOURING FAMILY MOTORCYCLES, INCLUDING CVO TOURING AND TRIKE PRODUCTS, MANUFACTURED FROM JUNE 6, 2008 THROUGH NOVEMBER 19, 2009. THE FRONT FUEL TANK MOUNTS MAY DISTORT IN REACTION TO SEVERE FRAME DAMAGE FROM A FRONTAL COLLISION. THIS CONDITION MAY CAUSE A FUEL LEAK AT THE WELD OF THE FRONT BRACKET TO THE TUNNEL.

Consequence:
A FUEL LEAK IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE MAY RESULT IN A FIRE, WHICH COULD LEAD TO INJURY OR DEATH TO THE RIDER.

Remedy:
DEALERS WILL INSTALL A LEFT AND RIGHT BRACE, WHICH ARE INTENDED TO REDUCE FRONT MOUNT DISTORTION DURING CERTAIN CRASH CONDITIONS. THIS REPAIR WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON DECEMBER 11, 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HARLEY-DAVIDSON AT 1-414-343-4056.

Notes:
OWNERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV .

I'm with y'all even though I have no idea if my new 2010 (just bought it 3 weeks ago) was built during those times or has the tweak. Pretty cheap parts and a simple mod might make 'em work anyway.

ETA: I've tried to spot how they fit by looking at the 360's for both the 2011 FLTRX and the Ultra version - no luck.

ETA2: Duh... see "View 2" - between the engine guard and the bottom of the tank.

ordered mine today. will give a report once they're installed and i go out on the interstate. been fighting the wind for almost 2 years. after many windshields the v-stream has helped the most and hogg chopps helped quite a bit too.

That's nuts. Would someone at HD get an intern or the VP of Engineering on this soon?

My "retro-kit" blocks fall off every time I pull my tank (thinking of using some silicone next time). These must interfere with those blocks??
