Perhaps the nozzle on the toy pump isn't matching up positively...

I would get an HD pump made for this job and check that. Maybe pull the shraeder valve and replace it. You can get them from wally world or any auto parts store.

Possibly local HD shop would only charge you about $80.00 to test it?

Thanks! I put the bags back on and will take a ride to the dealer tomorrow and buy an "official" HD hand pump and see what it does. Whether it makes a difference or not, I'll need it later after the repairs... if needed, lol...

Thanks for the help boys...

This is true, you will need the HD hand pump. Especially if you have to have new shocks. You don't want to blow them either.

I think that somehow the schrader valve is not allowing air into the shock.
Possibly it got plugged up with some foreign material from the toy pump (when you heard the click).
Remove it and replace it to see if that fixes the problem ......

It sounds like more of a plug in the system, than a leak.

Thanks for the input... Got the HD hand pump and all is good. Apparently the pump I started with couldn't hold up.

FYI, bicycle shops have shock pumps also. Most mountain bike forks and shocks use air pressure.

My point is that you may be able to find a less expensive pump at a bicycle shop...

I went the bicycle shock pump route and only saved a hand full of dollars. But those bucks bought me a six pack of my favorite adult beverages.
The H-D one is pretty cool looking though

I too bought a bicycle pump late Monday afternoon, after I had ridden to the dealer... forgot it was Monday and they were closed, lol. So I picked up a decent bicycle pump and tried it... but didn't realize it had a clamp on style attachment, no threaded attachment. It didn't work.

So as I mentioned a couple of posts ago, I got an HD pump from the dealer this morning, pumped the shocks up to 35lbs, and all is well

Now I have a new bicycle pump to go along with my official HD pump... and had to borrow a couple of adult drinks from my neighbor, lol
