Unhappy 2010 FLHTCU - knock on the left

Here's my story:

Bike is as subject says. got about 4500 miles on it. At about 3500, I started noticing a "knock, knock, knock", seems to be coming from the area of the clutch or primary. It is real intermittant, but when it happens it is always under the following conditions:
- bike and ambient temperature need to be hot
- RPM between 1900 - 2400
- pulling (like, from a stop, between gear shifts, etc)
- only heard in 1st, 2nd, 3rd gear (maybe going on otherwise, but too much noise from pipes/wind/stereo/wife, whatever)

I'm pretty sure it's drive train related as I have sat at stoplights when this starts happening and with the clutch pulled in, in 1st gear, slowly rolling the throttle through the "suspect range", it sounds fine.

Am I off to the stealer for a "that's normal" conversation? I had an 07 Dyna and an 09 FLHTC and never heard this in the 50K or so I put on those bikes.

Thanks for listening....

So I called the lead tech at the stealer where I got the bike. Gave him my story. He tells me "oh yea, I've heard that a lot, it is the primary chain slapping around when you lug it." Says that there is no way to get rid of it, but he'll take a look to make sure that it isn't worse than "normal".

Gads, am I getting jerked?

Sounds like BS to me. At least he is willing to look. My bet is compensator too.

So, dealer tech guy says that the compensator nut took 3/4 turn to get to the 140 ft/lbs spec. No charge, no noise, covered under warranty

I'm happy :-)

Thanks folks!
