Default What oil do you use?

Just curious as to what engine oil everyone uses! I just changed mine and run the screaming eagle synthetic, but Harley sure Is proud of it ($$$) .....anyone run anything not from Harley? ..cause we all know they don't make their own oil...they buy It and pay someone to put it in a Harley container just so they can make a buck!

There are many many posts on oil. I see you are new so you may not have seen them.

The popular choices of non Harley are Amsoil, Mobil 1, Redline, Royal Purple not necessarily in that order.

Lot's of different opinion's and threads about this subject. I have done a lot research on the right oil for my Bikes. I have tried many different brands over the years. I feel I have chosen the best for me.

Redline Shockproof Heavy in the Tranny
Amsoil 20w50 V-twin in the Engine and Primary
I am running Redline primary oil in my wife's 2010 SG Trike. It's good oil, but I'm changing it over to Amsoil next service. I like Amsoil 75w140 Severe Gear for the tranny also, But I think Redline SPH has a slight edge. JMO

Olive oil....Oh, were talking in the engine...in the crank; I use Mobil 1. Tranny uses Mobil 1 gear lube, and in the primary I use ATF.

Any quality name brand oil that meets the specs that are outlined in your manual. Some prefer synthetic, some prefer conventional. Regular maintenance is the key....

Sorry, I forgot to welcome you to the forum. In my new bike manual, HD recommends formula + or Syn 3 for the primary case. I might add a lot of Dealers here in TN and in Ga. Have started selling Amsoil. I know one Dealer in Dalton Ga. If you use them to service your bike, they offer Amsoil for the same price as Syn 3.

I'm currently using Royal Puple Max-Cycle 20W-50. I may be switching to Amsoil when my stock of Royal Purple is used up.
