Default Where did you purchase your lowering kit for the rear - Road King

Where did you purchase your lowering kit for the rear of the bike, a RK and did it fit and was the quality good or not?
I am looking to lower mine, short legs, and I need to get a good quality setup to use and not like this!
I just purchased a lowing kit from Ebay seller for my RK and I am not happy about the way it fits, it looks like it is out of whack. I have contacted the sellar and I am waiting for his response.

I don't think I'd be real happy with that either. Let us know what he says.

Don't know what year your bike is, but on my 03 the stock shocks are 12". I swapped mine out for some 11" of an electra glide (i think). they are harley parts so fitment was perfect. got from a local shop for $100.

I would try and get my money back on that part if I was you. I had a lowering kit on my 97 RK and had issues with bottoming out and the tire rubbing the fender. Went to the shorter shocks and that fixed the issue. Bike road much better with the shorter shocks than the lowering blocks.

I had progressive 440's on my RK, but a lot of guys find used or takeoff shocks in the classifies on here or ebay. The Streetglide shocks are the HD lowprofile ones and are 1" lower.

my RK is a 96, I never thought that some of the other models may have a shorter shock, I will also look into this. Any specific year and model will adapt to a 96 RK or am I looking for a needle in a haystack. Do they all have the Air suspension (I have air lines to my shocks) or will I loose that function going to a different model shock, sorry for the lack of knowledge but this is my first Harley and I no nothing about them..... thanks

I have just noticed that they are specific for years or group of years.
Any ideas what may work on a 96RK

Replaced my stock shocks ('01 RKC) with the lower HDs (...same length as Street Glide, as best I recall...1" lower?). Got'em new from the dealer...bolt right on, even with the soft Classic bags, and work with the air same as originals. It does make a nice difference, without making it so low as to drag on tight turns! (5' 8":-). Mc

I wouldn't trust that. Here is what I did to lower my RKC by 1.5". Great service & no problems with my bike after 6000 miles.

+1 on that. bitchin baggers did a great job on my rear shocks. I dropped mine 2". I'm 6'2" and am 215 lbs, ride is smooth and i have never bottomed out ,even when my wifes on the back. I run 30 psi in the shocks.
