OK...this it to ensure no one makes the same mistake as me.....I replaced my 12" stock with an LRS 8" X-stream today..thinking it would divert air up and over and still allow me to look over it....it took me about a mile to figure out the protection isn't even close...buffeting nearly pulled my glasses off.....I like the windshield looks...but it's like riding without a windshield vs. the stock 12" windshield.....I'm going to try a 10" now.....

I'm 5'9"....so it's not an issue of being too tall....

the X-stream is where you went wrong. they do look cool, but i'm using their standard shield with the flip at the top and couldn't be happier. i'm 6' 4" tall and i'm using the 10" long ride shield, not the x-stream. it does flip the air stream well over my head and i can see about 2" above the shield. it creates a pleasant air pocket to ride in for me.

I normally ride with a 8" Clearview recurve. It pushes nearly all the air up over my helmet. It's the windshield in my sig pic. It looks much taller than the 8" X-stream in your picture. I think they measure those along the shield, not how high it is above your fairing. They lay back quite a bit, and it looks like the equivalant of about a 5" normal windscreen, which won't get any wind off your face.

It is good to have a bar hopper shield, tho. I've got a 5" shield that was originally designed for the 04 CVO electra glide. It keeps the wind off my chest, and that's about it. This time of year, a little wind in the face is a welcome thing.

Being the hard headed type that I am....I decided to give it one more shot this morning....so did a quick 60 mile ride to a friends house and back.......I couldn't wait to get home and get this sucker off the bike.....it's now in the top of the closet in my spare bedroom...where it will stay.....

Im glad you posted this. I was seriously think of getting the exact shield you got but I was worried about performance. Sorry to hear the performance is not what expected because I love the look of that shield. If you decide to go with the 10" extream could you please post a review and some pictures?

Let me save you some money; 8" LRS Ultra works great for me at 6'-2" tall. I can see over it and no buffeting.

I've got a good shape 10" medium tint LRS Extreme for sale for $40. That's cheap enough for anyone to try.

I have an 10" LRS regular recurve, and I really like it. Just finished a 3380 mile trip, and the shield performed great. I'm 6'0".
