when i bought my 08 streetglide i was riding it 70 miles to my house and deciding what useless stuff i was going to remove. first was the rear shifter lever, useless to me, and contemplated removing the crash bars. when i got to the house i hit a little dip next to a mole hill in the yard and it was enough to convince me to leave the crash bar on the bike. they can go over easily, and it's usually at walking speed. that was enough for me to leave the crash bars on. it just laid over gently in the lawn on the bar, no big deal.

Polishing on the Road King on my deck, had a 2 x under the kick stand so it stood straighter, turned the bars hard right for a better angle on the air deflector, walked away to get a clean polish rag, over it went. Looked like a beached whale laying on it's side. No damage thanks to the bars.

Plus 3, 4, or whatever # we're up to (lol). A Couple of weeks ago in NC, I was unloading my '10 Ultra from an enclosed trailer (I know, I know.....wouldn't normally tow an Ultra but was in a convoy of friends and didn't want to hold the group up with my bike fuel stops). Anyway, got to the cabin and was backing it out and watching to make sure the saddlebag didn't hit the ramp cable. Bike leaned to the right before I could stop it and down it went. Gently guided it down and let the engine/bag guards do the rest. Not a shred of evidence! ;-)
