Default Tour Pack Quick Mount

Just got my tourpack mounted on my SG last night and it seems to be quite a chore to get the latches to turn and lock in place. Almost to the point of I hate to take it back off again. I am pretty sure there is no way to adjust the mounting points but it just seems to take alot of effort to get the latches to position themselves and lock. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The quick detach HW may have been a waste of $$$. I really had plans on taking it on and off fairly frequently. Thanks

There has been previous posts about fine tuning the mounts for a detachable tour pak. I'm sure you will be able to work it out.

Ya, I feel the same way. It's a PITA for sure.

That's probably why I hardly ever put it on.

Should have used that money towards something else.

You have to get those latches in the correct position. Once there, they just slide/snap onto the posts easily.

I fought with them too until I looked closely and saw the openings in the latches were not centered above the mount posts. Once they were, everything fell into place.

How do you shift the locations ? I assume maybe use washers behind the mounting posts?

Make sure the black cam lobe lines up with the cut out in the metal on the bracket perfectly. Look at it while its off the bike, rotate it around to the closed position it would be in on the bike and see if the edges of the metal line up perfect with the edges of the black cam lock. If not you can file down the edges of the metal until it does. I modified my backrest and had to do this to get it to fit perfect.

I just ordered my Tourpack, Mount etc... for my 09 SG. Even though it is going to be a pain it is still removable. I looked into buying the Rigid Mount and it actually was going to be more expensive because I already had the docking kit.

To install the Rigid Mount you had to buy new fender strut covers with holes in the top.

I decided to go with the quick detach even if it is a little bit of a pain!
