Jim. It was still going sideways and I think I was taught that trick in the experienced riders course. I could be wrong, maybe I dreamt up the whole thing, but it was a last resort and it worked. I got my traction again but still had to brake for that light. The more I think about it and the more I ride this bike I am leaning towards the idea that I gave it too much front brake and took the weight off the rear just enough to let it start to ride on the water.

Gotcha, well I'll be taking the experienced rider course this summer some time when it's available around here I think. (I just found out that should get you an insurance discount) But even if it doesn't I am sure I'll learn something during it! I am not one who thinks that I am beyond any more knowledge no matter HOW long I have been doing it!

Good luck, and keep the shiny side up!

It just takes an unnoticed oil or radiator fluid patch and a little leaning, or uneven road surface, while decelerating for a bike to come loose.

We do not have much rain in S. Cal. but I always try to stay off the center of the lane when it's wet. I also drive much more conservatively. It is a heavy bike with a very small contact area with the road.

Be careful out there...

I got my answer on this today. I took the bike to the dealer to pick up a replacement for a blown fuse and the rear tire went left again when I hit the brakes on the way there. I mentioned it to the service rep and it ends up it was slightly out of allignment (yes, from the factory). That plus wet roads and probably some oil, along with not giving enough rear brake was enough to make me scare the hell out of that driver in the cage in front of me. Thanks for all the help on this one.

Just need to break the tires in and practice on wet roads with this ride. Wet down the road in front of your house and do a few stops and turns to get the feel of it.

The roads are the slickest during the first 10 to 20 minutes of the rain.

I ride on wet roads just like they where ICE only doing one thing at a time, turn, break or accelerate.

I've only had that happen once right after a passing thunder storm and at the time I was in a small town, stopped at a red light. Hasn't happen since.

Not to kick a sleeping dog, but I'm about to put a 195/60-16 Dunlop Sport 5000 (car tire) on the back of my 2010 Street Glide!! I'm not impressed by the factory tires! Read up on the concept... I'm convinced!! Google DARKSIDE Riders
