Default Dumb Air Filter Question

Can I clean this air filter with a K&N recharge kit? I think its a factory air cleaner but I am not sure because ive never seen another air filter to compare.

Thanks!

That looks stock so I think it can be washed in soap and water and rinsed out. Doesnt need to be oiled, like the K&N ones. The K&N filters look red/pink in color, due to the oil.

You can use the K&N cleaner, but do not oil it.

if it's the membrane type which has only been out a few years, then you do not oil it. it will be stamped on the back of the filter itself, "do not oil" if it's the woven cotton sandwiched between screen, then it's likely the older screamin eagle filter element. or a k&n type. i'm guessing that since it has the true duals and the power commander, it's an aftermarket filter element or a screamin eagle.

My manual says to replace it.. But I have heard of guys cleaning them so thats why I was asking. Besides that, the K&N air filter and the stock one look identical other then color... but mine was so dirty it was hard to tell till after I cleaned it that it was a white filter, not a pink one.

Looks like a stock filter to me. I wasn't aware they could be cleaned.

It's not a stupid question. I bought my RK used and did not get a manual either. Mine is a screaming eagle air cleaner, I suspect that they are washed with mild soap and water and then air dried???
