I thought I had detailed my Harleys a couple of times at least, however, I've never spent 7 hours cleaning on one of them.

I didn't say 7 hours was spent on the bike. I said 7 hours were spent in the garage....you are forgetting, the garage is where the beer, fan and tunes were.
Some days here in Atlanta, it's just too damn hot to ride! When the sun goes down, it is quite nice riding in the evenings. My attention to detail comes from the order and discipline learned over the past 19 years in the Military.
Have you ever served? Those that have know where I am coming from.

Whether or not you served has zero impact on anything. Why cheapen your service by waving it in people's faces when talking about something as trivial as cleaning your bike?

I served and I have never detailed my bike. She gets washed when it rains or if my kids want to wash it. If I have 2 to 7 hours of free time, I ride it. I just moved from Atlanta to Orlando friend. It is never too hot to ride in either place. It may be uncomfortable, but it is still a ride.

quick wipe w/pledge & microfiber towel bout twice a month. "detail".... cant really call it that... pull off bags, seat, side covers, but pretty much still a quick wipe w/pledge & microfiber towel maybe couple times a year, unless i rode in the rain or mud. Yes, mud, i aint scared...

Cleaning my bike was my choice after having been pissed off with the dealership.
My service is what I am proud of, and not waving it in anybody's face, just the basis of my motovation and attention to detail. My time, my money, my bike. Been riding for a long time, but never did a full nuts and bolts detail. So yes I did have a private GI party. I suggest you try it sometime, might do your ego some good.

I try to rinse and wipe off the bugs after every ride. (we have plenty of them right now)
Wash and dry with micro towel about once or twice a month or after riding in the rain.
