Default 2001 flht

Would like some opinions. My ride is an 01 FLHT, last year did a 95', heads massaged, daytona ignition module, cam upgrade, supertrapp 2-1. She runs great. I have had lower's on her for most of her life. Am leaving on a trip to southern Utah, Grand Canyon, Vegas etc. I notice some heat off the rear cylinder while riding around up here in Canada. Was thinking I may stop along the way and have an oil cooler installed; also was thinking to remove the lowers for the trip. I like the storage and the minimal wind buffering with the lowers on. Lets hear what ya think.. Should I take the lowers off? Oil Cooler, if so which one?? Thanks

Leave the lowers on and install the Harley oil cooler.

With the engine work it should have an oil cooler on anyway since it no doubt runs with more heat. The lowers are a personal preference but wind buffetting on the legs can really fatigue a rider. I know as it has happened to me.

Also, if you're not already, run synthetic. Runs 10 to 15 degrees cooler. Removing the lowers would generate more airflow, and therefore cool the engine, but I would,nt wanna sacrifice that comfort. Oil cooler w/ synthetic and you're definately running cooler.
