I bought an 06 as I wanted the proven powertrain and the better fuel mileage. I'm sure the 07's are nice, but I wasn't wanting to take a chance that things might not be quite dialed in. I had a first year Vrod, great bike, but there were quite a few improvements in following years and I had a few little problems here and there. Rode an 06 and didn't feel like I really had to have the six speed, and I bought a touring bike this time so I wasn't as concerned with the 96" as I was the drop in mileage. Also saved quite a bid on an 06 that the dealer was ready to get rid of. Guess my pockets aren't as deep as some.

I went with a 06, proven bike and a great deal over the 07's. Pipes, PCIII and all the after market goodies are already in place for the 06's where the 07's will have a premium price on them until they are in more demand and the compitition starts trying to win over the market place. I cruise at around 70 MPH on the hwy and the RPM's are around 2800 so its all good to me. Sure I would have liked to have gotten a 07 but for less money I got a new bike, added Rinehart true duels, SE intake and a PCIII. Life is good and I love my bike

Why would you get rid of your 03, unless you were going for a Glide or something? I would stick with your bike personally!

The old saying goes......"There is no substitution for cubic inches". I would not worry about the '03. They made SOOO many of them, that unless your bike has not been riden much, then go for the '07. 96cu in and 6 speed. The engineers at the MOCO have had a year with the Dyna's and the 6 speed. The motor is 96 cu in and it's just a Twin Cam with a longer stroke and a different (better) oiling system and a little larger piston. The motor will be under warranty for 2 years and you can extend it to 6 (which is what I would do) and you will have the HOG national registry to give you peace of mind along the highway.

I put the go fast goodies on my '04 and only picked up 8 hp and 6 ft lbs of torque on the dyno. Go for the new model year and have a blast with the new colors and running gear.

And if your going for a glide....go for the Ultra....you won't be adding an extra set of speakers or putting the cruise on it later....

Good luck.

This is the way I hear it! 06 is 63 HP .. 07 54 HP.. 6 Speep each gear is adjusted by 10%. Both bicks travelling 60 MPH RPM is only 200 less with 07 in 6th gear Extra CU IN will give a little more tork in my estimation, by this engine is emissioned to the max and beyond. My 2 cents. I'm good and have the 06. roid

If money is no object go for the 07, but you can save a few grand on an 06 right now if you're not too picky about the details. You're gonna have to get all the goodies either way. The 07 stuff is starting to show up now. If you already have an 06, like me, and have started the customizing ritual, makes more sense to stick with it - unless of course you are made of cash....

If you look at a '07, better ride the one you are interested in BEFORE you buy it. Ride it good in 5th gear to be sure you are not getting one of the becoming famous Cruise Drive rock grinders.
