The previous posters are correct: The dealer saw you coming or you said something that made them believe you already had the hook in your jaw. Looking elsewhere or selling your scoot outright is the way to go. Or, offer them NADA value (that's NOT the Spanish "nada.")
There are two things you might want to consider:
1. Your local dealer will offer you no more than 2/3 of what he thinks he'll get for it, with a "fudge factor" of the cost of any obvious repairs (usually new tires & an oil change).
2. While "Stage 1" and "Super-Gizmo Loud Pipes" may cost an arm and a leg to purchase new, you won't get more than $.10 on the dollar at trade. And, zero for chrome goodies.
If he thinks your local market will only support a $14,500 sales price if he sells it, he may have offered you what would be a "fair price" to him.
Also remember, NADA & KBB are really "behind" in their values from the dealer's standpoint when buying, "right on" when selling.
My $.02.

If it's the dealer that you've been taking it to for all the problems you complained about in another post he isn't going to give you much because he's probably going to wholesale it out rather than risk selling to a local. You can try a different dealer, but most will look up a service record & may decide to do the same thing.

Got a UC 2008 with stage 1, oil cooler and Rineharts. Spent $26K total on this bike. Dealer offered me $11K for it on a trade in for a 2010. What happened to the harley's hold their value? Is this what this bike is worth on a trade in? The deal was my bike and I pay $10K in top of it so the dealer is giving me $11K for my bike. BTW, bike has 30K miles. Is this typical or a bad deal? Thanks
if you still have the stock stuff, take off your upgrades and put as much stock stuff back on as you can. if you have a sert, sorry, thats stuck with the bike.
what really sucks is that the 10k premium that the dealer wants you to pay is gonna jump again when you add in all the fees, etc. now if that 10k he wants you to pay includes all that, then you aren't really as bad off as it seems.

I traded for a 2010 Road King Standard with ABS, Security, Cruise and 460.00 in upgraded wheels. His price for it was 19,995 He gave me 18,220.00 for my 08 UC 105th anni with 11,440 miles on it. I had some upgrades, but took them all off and put it back stock except for grips. I couldn't believe the deal until we signed the papers, because I had called every dealer in TN and they wanted anywhere from 3500.00 to 4100.00 to boot. It's what I get for for living right, I guess! LOL

The Dealer's close to me are full of it. Two of them told me they had checked all the dealers in a 500 mile radius and there were no 2010 RK in Redhot Sunglo with ABS and Cruise and security.
