Wink electra glide radio antenna

Okay, I hacked into my husbands HD account to ask a question about my new 05 Electra Glide. It has a sony stereo installed with an antenna you can't see, internal I quess, well it sucks, and I can't get any radio stations. One of the reasons I wanted a Electra was the fairing with the stereo. Ya know, so when he is yelling at me for the way I am riding, I do not hear him. Does anyone know if buying and antenna that is external and putting it on the bags will make the stations come in, or is Sony's motorcyle radio just plain suck. I dont want to waste a cent if it won't work. Second question, does anyone know where the plug for the antenna is, I saw a plug under my seat and it wasn't being used, is that it? Yes my husband can probably figure all this out, he is a genius, but since, he is procrastinating, I am asking, perhaps the embarassment of me asking just amateur questions, under his name, will furthur motivate him, to get my radio working...hehe. Thanks for your help.

The antenna plug is under the seat. There is a bracket you can get from Harley to install an antenna on in the rear. Then plug the antenna in under the seat.

I have had Sony,Alpine stereos along with the Harman Kardan with all types of in fairing antennas and your problem is the antenna not the stereo,Put the antenna back on.

I have the sony stereo and it sounds better than the HK. IMO Change the antenna and you should be fine unless you live where radio is not available.

All the above suggestions are good, but they take a lot for granted. First things first. I assume this is a new to you EG. You need to get in the faring and verify exactly what you have. Is there actually a hidden antennae there, is it plugged in, ect. Then you can go from there. Just saying that's the way I'd approach the same problem. Couple other questions, has the stereo ever gotten good reception for you? Does the stereo have other functions,CD player, cassette, ect and do they work? I don't want to take anything for granted and need more info in order to give better advice.

I had a external antenna on my EG with a Sony stereo and wanted the "clean" look so i got an internal antenna . Big mistake on my part. Don't get good reception at all now. If I didn't listen to cd's all the time I would change it back, but I will probably leave it alone now.

All Iuse is an external XM radio and the ipod regular radio never liked it had same issues your experiencing. So no antennas on my bike other than the smal XM radio one. Once you use the XM you will never go back ride across the country and you still know where all your stations are.
