Hey guys, just was wondering how many of you ware cowboy boots when you ride? I have a really nice pair, but I would need to add a non slip sole. I was just wondering protection wise for your ankles and if they keep your feet warm or cold when riding?
Best bet is have your local shoe repair guy do
a 1/2 sole in neoprene w/non-slip.
Ariat(spell chk) makes great boots that come w/rubber soles.
Most comfortable boots I've ever owned (20 + pairs over the yrs
of Justin's, Tony Lama's, Dan Post etc)
Tony Lama Ostrich. Had the original leather soles on and stopped in McCall Idaho a couple years back and had rubbed a hole in the bottom of my left boot the size of a silver dollar. Had to buy some redwings to finish the trip and got new rubber soles when we got home and they work great now.
Have a pair of H&H, made in Reading, Pa., America. They are ranch work boots; good sole and over the years have taken a few rocks and wood from the highway that would have stung if I didn't have the high leather. Keep me cool in summer and warm enough in cool weather.
I have a couple of pairs from Double H. They have several models with rubber soles. Mine are comfy, inexpensive and durable.
As for hot/cold...I wear them in both summer and winter and am pretty comfortable. My winter boots are a size larger to accommodate an additional pair of heavy socks.
