I concur with Ariats. I wear rambler and they are comfortable and good to ride in. I also have Ariat waterproof harness style riding boots that are also very comfortable. I'd say Ariat is the way to go.
Whites boots (lace up packers) hand made in Spokane Washington, vibram soles. 15 years 4 rebuilds and countless heels, best pair of boots I've ever owned.
Hey guys, just was wondering how many of you ware cowboy boots when you ride? I have a really nice pair, but I would need to add a non slip sole. I was just wondering protection wise for your ankles and if they keep your feet warm or cold when riding?
I've always liked the look and feel of western boots. Last year I finally had to retire a pair after 20+ years of good use. The uppers were so badly torn up that it was cheaper to buy new than repair them.
I bought a pair of Dan Post waterproof boots that include a good non-slip rubber sole and an inside lining that makes them real easy to slip on and off. Unfortunately I discovered that they're much too hot and I suspect it's because they can't breathe through the lining and waterproofing treatment. I'll be looking for a new pair soon and I'm leaning towards the Chippewa boots because they're American made and get good reviews.

+1. I've had mine for 17 yrs. Bought them in Hamilton, MT. Haven't needed a 'rebuild' yet, but had the 'company' resole them with Vibram 'Mini-vibs' about 5-6 years ago. Great boot, great support!! Don't think I'll ever wear them out!! A little 'Bear Grease' once a month and they are good to go.
I've worn Cowboy boots off and on all of my life. I have worn them on occasion while riding but I prefer my regular boots that are actually US Army Paratrooper boots with a zipper in the side. I'm retiring the pair I've been wearing for 20 years and had the soles and heals replaced twice. I've curently have a new pair on order.
