Default Clutch cable adjustment question

I've always done the full clutch adjustment service on my bikes (loosen jam nut, set ball and ramp release etc.). Today, in between services on a very hot day I realised I needed to adjust the clutch cable a bit. Even though I'm between services it got bad enough I couldn't disengage the clutch fully. Any reason to do a full adjustment or can I get away with taking up the slack?

Just take up the slack. There should be about 1/16"-3/32" " play at the grip when properly adjusted.

Yup - already done and tools put away. I'm less than 1k away from next service - figure I'll readjust at that point.

With a properly adjusted clutch to those specs you should have a smooth clutch feel, and grabs about the same distance every time, no surprises.
