Default 09 SG Spoke wheels......Adding air pressure to tires

Not to beat a dead horse but anyone who has these wheels knows the PIA it is to check and add air....Especially in the rear.

I'm thinking about filling the tires up with nitrogen so I don't have to go through this PIA proceedure much.

For some reason Nitrogen does not escape from a tire like air does (I hear) so the tire "should" retain pressure better (I hear).....

Anyone have any first hand experiance proving that myth out?

the 28 spoke wheels on the RK is just as much a PIA
I can't even get the air gage on them without the pressure
rod going into the disk. I found a shorty gage at auto zone
which makes it doable. My last bike (Vulcan 1600) had 90*valves
which made a lot more sense

Yea but the spokes have tubes and the tubes dont have 90 degree valves.
I think I'm going to try the nitrogen thing just so I dont have to worry about air loss.

(I have no idea why nitrogen cant escape but air can but thats what I hear and thats why I posted....Anyone????

It's because the nitrogen molecules are fatter than oxygen molecules, so theoretically the tire does not lose it's charge of nitrogen (through seepage) as fast as it would with oxygen.

It's the same thing on my Road King. My solution is to lie on the ground, twist my hands to an impossible angle to get between the spokes, and cuss a lot. I don't think I'll try the nitrogen though because I usually lose half the air just trying to check the pressure.

LOL....That's true. You dont want to waste that stuff just by testing air.

You shouldnt have to test the air but once every blue moon with the nitrogen but I understand the mental part of wanting to test and retest just to get a sense of trust....

There is also a tire air monitoring wireless "thingy" that is about $150.00......I might put that on down the road if the Nitrogen holds up for a season.

Here is what I use, makes the job alot easier. You don't leave it on the wheel, it's only for checking and filling. I have the 28 spoke wheels.

Where you get that? That would work very well for checking and adding air....

I use an Accu-Gauge.
