RE: Road King Classic Vrs. Yamaha Road Star Midnight Silverado
I haven't posted in a while and thought...this has actually been a really good thread, this is how we should act towards our other non-HD riders, on some level I think the prevailing attitude has cooled off and we're not at each others' jugulars over brand, kind of remeinds me of the pickup truck wars we had about 20 years ago.

Harley verses roady
I have both the Harley Deluxe and the 1700 midnight road star, both are 2006. If I sell my HD I will lose $6,000 and if I sell the yammie, 3,200. I know because I have had several officer on both bikes. No HD resale greats out there. I am keeping them both as they are both fine bikes. One problem, all of my gear says "Harley" and it looks odd on my Roady....Who cares what one rides anyhow. A bike is not an investment anymore.

OK guys..... twice this AM I have jumped into a 5 y/o thread! This time on purpose. Since I rode a Roadie for 7 years before my first King what would be interesting here is if OP caught this and updated us on his buddy.
Is he still on the Silverado? Did he succumb to the teasing, ribbing and buy an HD? Inquiring minds want to know!

I the the Roadstar is actually a better bike in general. The problem with Roadkings are the design flaws such as the cam chain that lead to engine failure. You don't have these problems with the Roadstar and the bike is half the price. Harley knows about these problems but it's big business not to fix them. People will continue to buy Harley because they believe they are made in America and all the other romantic allure. I give credit to Harley for capturing the hearts and souls through brilliant marketing. I like to ride not blow money. I'm amazed at how many people get sucked into the Harley thing.
