Default LED load equalizers

Sorry if I am repeating old posts.
2006 RoadKing
Changed turn signal bulbs to LED's. Also changed brake light bulb to LED type. All seems to work properly other than the security light staying on.
Is that the worst problem of not having a load equalizer?

Forgot to mention I have the run/brake converter on the tailights.

Sounds like you may have bought the Kuryakyn stuff (junk). You need an alarm compatible load equalizer. I don't know which run/turn/brake controller you have but if it isn't the one from Badlands, I would send it back and get the Badlands Illuminator with built in load equalizer. It's alarm compatible too.

What LED bulbs are "alarm compatible".

I doubt that the security light staying on has anything to do with the absence of a load equalizer. However, I don't have any 2006 literature to look at (the closest is 2007 Ultra). You don't say whether or not you have a security system on this bike.

The absence of a load equalizer is why the security light is on,
the led's draw far less current than a bulb and the system is
throwing a code for that reason.
Will it cause harm? I do not know for sure, but as the shrink
stated look into a badlands illuminator you won' be sorry.

Agreed. Every time I have a bulb go out the security light stays on.

Perhaps someone could point to some literature that says the security light will stay on if the current draw by various lights (turn signals, etc.) is less than expected.

It's a known fact that when the current drops (bulb out, changed to l.e.d.), the security light will come on. It's not the l.e.d.'s making the light come on, it's the low current. LED's draw about 90% less current than incandescent bulbs and stay cooler.

The Badlands Illuminator has a built in load equalizer that is "alarm compatible". Therefore keeping the alarm light off. The alarm light comes on to warn you that you have a bulb out because the led's are not drawing the "proper" amount of juice. Sometimes, without the load equalizer, your signals will flash too fast too.

from my experience...the run/brake converter will give it enough resistance to not need the load equalizer. I even used the H-D converter on my custom LED tear drop tail lights without buying the over priced aftermarket converters.
