YES! I wear a size 13 boot and my foot will not fit between the heel-toe. Harley makes a chrome cover to go over the shaft that will be empty when you remove the heel portion. Kuryakyn ( I think ) makes a spacer to let you move the toe out where the heel use to be. I have the Harley chrome cap. Works great!

Piece of cake.

Kuryakyn makes a "shim" that you can slide in place of the inner (rear) shifter or HD sell a cap for the end of the shifter shaft, but you have to slide the toe shifter in and then place the cap on hte outside.

I've always removed mine and replaced the toe shifter with an EZ-Brake Long shifter. It's awesome!

Harley has two versions, the cap only, just remove back lever and it cover's the shaft, 12.95, and the other one that includes a spacer so you can move the front shifter out and a cap, it costs 24.95, but i prefer the front shifter in original position so the 12.95 worked great.
