I have the same noise on my 2010 FLHX. Started last year and when I had it in for 1st service, they confirmed that the belt wasn't tracking properly. They tried using a bit of emery on the edge of the belt and it went away. The dealer told me it's harmless but if it comes back and it bothers me they will change the belt. First time out this season and the noise is back so I'm going to have Harley order a new belt and swap it out.

I saw there were some more postings on this topic so I thought I would post an update.

My dealer basically shrugged his shoulders and was adamant it was not an issue at all. Actually he is a good techie and I did agree with him, it was a belt chaffing noise.

Anyway, the sound basically disappeared after a 1000 mile or so. I now have 7k miles on the bike and the noise has gone, so I also just shrug my shoulders. I do not believe it was serious

These scoots make an awful lot of noises all their own, and while I listen intently, I have had to dismiss a lot of them as being pertinent to this particular brand or model.

I have had a similar noise what was recomended to me by a Harley tech was a very small dab of Poly-Oil (pn 99860-81)a couple of places on the drive belt. It has quieted mine down everytime.

But any non tacky lube will probally have the same result.

Have a 2010 RG. Has about 2000 miles. This rubbing noise is getting worse as time goes on. Brought it to two different dealers and both couldn't/wouldn't figure it out. I tried to call HD Canada(I'm Canadian), and they have yet to call back. I'm taking it to another dealer soon. I'll drop a thread If I figure this out....
