Default 5'8" and feel like I'm reaching for the bars...

2010 Ultra, 5'8" and I feel that when I have the backrest where I want it, I am reaching for my stock bars.

What are my options?

Would love to see pics of different bars if you have them. Also, is the swap (if thats the fix) a do it yourself deal?

Thanks guys,

Chris

PS I can see this being a never ending "game" of "how much money can I spend on one bike"! Gotta love it. I was at a dealer (Docs in WI) getting my 1K check up done, saw a sticker...."I refuse to participate in the recesion"!

I believe you should be leaning slightly forward when riding in order to protect your back. I don't think you are supposed to be sitting straight up.

The first and most obvious choices are handlebars that reach farther back but before considering that ask yourself how comfortable you are with the seat. Just having done the 1K service you need to take a good long ride and determine if a seat more suited to your stature may be the ticket. I wish I had a UC (as another bike besides my RK) and can only offer the recommendations from my own experience.

Krome Werks +2 Sweeper bars. More pull back and a better wrist angle. Do a search on this site and you'll find some good comparison pics on stock vs. +2 Sweepers.

These are Wild One 508s. I'm not sure if the attachment or the signature picture shows them better. They are more comfortable for riding, but less stable at slow speed and cornering because the come so far back.

I just ordered the bars that come standard on a heritage softtail classic. The guy at the H-D shop helping, said I dont have to change anything but the bars. Then he hooked me up with one of the sales men who just installed them on his RK and he let me sit on his bike. I cant wait till my new bars come in. The reaching is a problem i am also having. Hopefully this takes care of it!
