Default ultra tour pak on roadking

im putting a 93 ultra tour pak on an 08 rkc.my plan is to make a harnes that will go in between the harnes under the seat that runs from the bike to the tail lights.it will run out of this new plug to the tour pak with another plug that will hook into the tour pak.has any body else done this?any other ideas out there?do yo think 18 ga wire will be heavy enough?once in the tour pak i might put a cigaret lighter.for charging phones and other stuff.this would be conected to the tail light wire.so it would only be hot while lights are on.thanks for any help you can provide.

I bought my tour pak on ebay and it came with a harness. I did remove the seat and spliced in to the brake and running lights with no problems so far. I just used a test light to find the right wires, trial and error. Good luck!

18 ga should be sufficient. Mine is detachable, I just never took it off. Eventually I'll re wire it so the brake and turn signals will both work. More visibility.
That's a nice looking ride you got there!

The cleanest installation is to use a Deutsch connector under the seat to mate with the Accessory connector there to pick-up the ground, run, and brake light circuits. You'll need a socket housing (p/n 72114-94BK); socket lock (p/n 72154-94); and, three socket terminals (p/n 72191-94). That's the "front" end of your new harness.

The "back" end of the harness to connect to the tour pak will use the same parts HD uses for the tour pak harness found on fairing models. Use the part nos. in the Touring parts catalog for 2008 Touring models, although it's probably the same for earlier years since HD seldom changes connectors from year to year. The p/n's are: 73153-96BK (socket housing) and 73191-96 (contact socket--need 3).

Using the Accessory connector under the seat is how HD wires a number of lighting accessories such as the tour pak spoiler LED and saddlebag spoiler LED accessories.

Good luck with your project.

Carl

PS: 18ga. wire will be fine.
