i have an 09 ultra that im using harley synthetic oil.my dealer told me that you could go 5000 miles easily without having to change the oil.they cant get me in till another week for my maint.service.by then i will probly have around 7500 on the same oil.will that hurt my motor or should i just park it.we were planning on going for a big ride over the 4th.never used synthetic before so just not sure how good it works.

I might suggest that you look at your trip and find a shop along the way that can change your oil. Call them up and schedule it. Most shops will accomidate a quick oil change for an out of town rider.

Bud, it's stupid-easy to change it yourself. Save the money you would have given them for their labor, and buy the shop manual. If nothing else, at least you can read it and learn more about your bike. A new manual is about $60, and has a wealth of information. But if you can change your oil in your lawnmower, you can change your oil in your bike.
