Default BrightAssLight vs LED vs Stock - PICS

In the search for the perfect tail light, I finally spent the $ for a BAL. It is model BAL 3ST which is smoked lay down style.

BAL - 3ST

Led bulb vs stock

Here is a comparison of the 3 different lights.

Stock - Run

Stock - Brake

Led - Run

LED - Brake

BAL - Run

BAL - Brake

BAL - Brake again

Side by side

It is too bad they do not offer a version for the 2010 FLHX.

The LED replacement bulb might be a good choice for you. Much cheaper too.

Thank you for your work, very good to see the comparisons. I really like the BAL's, and am on the market for a better light now. Yours looks perfect.

The LED bulbs to replace your existing bulbs are garbage. I went to the Dealer where I bought my wifes 2010 SG Trike and bought two Led bulbs. 19.95 a piece. 43.00 with tax for two bulbs. Happened to start raining while I was inside buying the bulbs. I had mine and her bikes parked under the shed outside. While waiting for it to stop raining, I decided to break out the tools and install one of the bulbs to compare. My wife was inside shopping. I put the bulb in and when she came out, I asked her which was the new bulb? She picked the stock bulb. The stock bulbs were actually as bright. I took the LED bulb out, put it back in the package, went in and got my money back. The guy at the counter said you have to replace the entire light housing. The one he suggested was over 100.00 a piece.

I came across a biker at Thunder Beach that had one of these brake lights on his. I can tell you for sure that when he hit his brake that light gets your attention, both at a distance and really catches your eye as you get closer. Meet up with him at a red light so I commented on the great light he had.

I really really want a BAL light but they are soooo expensive!

I was keeping my eye on the possible group buy but looks like it never happened.

My local dealer doesnt carry them so no discounts for me.

Another cool feature is the ability to program the light. It comes with a magnet that you use to change the intensity and flash patterns. I have mine set to flash when I hit the brakes and then shine steady. I'm sure it will be annoying to the bikes that ride behind me but I'm also sure it will get the attention of any car drivers following. That's my intent and that's why I spent over $250 for the light . . . OUCH!
