Flitz metal polish - safe on painted surfaces. This is what I use on my 2009 SG wheels. Works a bit faster than Mother's Alum Polish.

Default mothers aluminum polish

on my last bike I used mothers aluminum polish and a buffing wheel on a drill. worked good. only problem is when you star to get a blemish or rusted aluminum blister its pretty hard to get rid off. unless u clean them at least monthly they get rust spots. When I bought my 2009 first thing I did was to get rid of the rims and put on 2009 screaming eagle chrome rims. so easy to clean now. I believ ehte chrome version of 2009 -10 rims are 549 usa prices. they come on the 103 ultra limited

I have used Flitz since I got mine and works well. Only thing is keep off of tire since pain to get off rubber. I have used Flitz since my Air Force days to polish chrome on either uniform or jet parts.

I dont have a problem cleaning them, its the problem of they look like they (as someone else described above) have "blistered" in a couple of spots. I dont ride in the snow or after road salt, seems kinda crappy they dont hold up better than that. I have a 200 Ford with aluminum wheels and over 200K on it and the wheels dont have any blisters at all............. any ideas for "blisters"?

Default not sealed

thats because your truck rims have a clear sealer applied over the aluminum to keep the air and moisture off. eventually the sealer will wear off or get scratched and truck rim will blister rust too. harley rims are not sealed so unless u clean them constantly and apply a was as a sealer they will blister and rust from day one. get chromies only solution

Any idea why they dont clearcoat? Seem's like it would sure make them last a lot longer, guess it would cut into chrome wheel sales...............

Be glad they don't coat them. A small chip in the coating will let moisture under the coating and you can not clean it unless you remove (sand off) the coating. It is much easier to polish uncoated wheels. As far as blisters etc. 1200 to 1500 grit sandpaper and a bucket of soapy water is your best bet then finish with you choice of polish. Mine being Busches Aluminum Cleaner/polish.

We did a wheel exchange for chrome soon after we bought it on our 09 and we use Flitz with Harley's wheel brush PN# 43078-99 to keep them shiny. That wheel brush is pretty sweet; it's an absolutely perfect fit for the 09 wheels. Takes about twenty minutes a piece, including tire dressing, to do it right but the little woman says they look like "Jewelry" when I'm finished.
