Default New style pipes

I have dropped the hammer on a set of Khrome Werks duals for my '03, I saw them in American Bagger a few issues back and had been bugging them on the release date for the rest of the months.

I put my order in but they do not expect them for shipping until some time in July. Pipes lay out very similar to the current Harley design turning forward off the rear head and pasing under the bike from the front head, no x-over visible but is engineered into the setup. Not sure how they will do as to high centering but I will find out, I had to find a exhaust to move some of the heat away from the wife and these pipes look to be the answer. P/N 200600, is currently on their website under New Products and just happen to be shown on a '03 RK.

I am really interested to see how these work out for you. That left pipe is a major heat issue for me, and this looks as if it would solve that. Please give a report back after you get them and have them installed.

Got word today the pipes are on the UPS truck as of 09/08, they worked the bugs out they were dealing with for so long and they feel they have a sell-able product. I should have them tomorrow on the last delivery run or at latest Monday. I did order a set of torque cones to go with the pipes so as soon as I have them on and the set put to them it is off to Kentucky and a hard road test.

Photos of progress to follow.

They arrived today at 12:30 and they are on, not completely done but on, I will need to adjust the front pipe shield and brake pedal arm(billet) for clearance but a small issue. These are not for the faint of heart or the novice to install, took a lot of specialized type tooling to get the old pipes off and the new on, this will be best for a wrench to do.

The last five photos:

Four hours start to finish, but I still have a bit of whittling to do on the brake arm interference.

DDM, That's a different look to tru duals. Are there any clearance issues with your jack now? How is the seat of the pants dyno and sound test? Looks like it will breathe much better than stock.

These are not true duals even as they look it, there is a crossover albeit small on the pipes just before the transition from the front header to the cross-under pipe, it is just ahead of the ASCO clamp in picture 7 but mostly invisible.

Power is good, noise is a little abated but I chalk that up to the old pipe system using the right pipe as a main and this set uses the left for the front jug.

Had a slight interference to the billet brake pedal, that I did not catch until the first run, lots of vibration transfer, gleaned about 3/16 off the inner edge at the pipe, opened it up to about .035 and the issue is gone.

Next step, a ride with the little woman aboard to see how the heat issues move around, that will be tomorrow. Then I can fix the brake tube blowout on my truck that occurred tonight as I took off for a little R&R at B.I.L.'s farm for beer and screwoff time, oh well beer here tomorrow after the ride.

Next week a ride to Ky for the Bourbon Trail, I hope the rain holds back.

Almost forgot, jack still works, no problem for clearance, have not done any high speed lay down corners to know if they will make contact but by visual it looks like the boards will still hit first.
A photo of the interference point fix. The main reason I recommend a wrench for this, the old pipes were a SOB to get apart and you have to disassemble the entire right side of the bike it seemed.

How much ground clearance did you lose?

About an inch just in front of the rear tire.
