Unhappy Zumo XM on Road King

Has anyone put the Xm puck on a road king? If so where did you mount it? I am looking at the 665 (love that radar screen) or the 550. The price for the 665 is killer.

It's all personal preference of course. I paired mine with the z550 mount on the left handle bar with the 4" extension. That puts the puck just above and pointing back from the z550. That entire assy is just below my eye level.

Rain protection is a 1gal baggie that slips over the puck/z550 with a loose zip tie. Quick/easy.

I've been asked about vibration (using the 4" extension). Bike standing still, yes but moving you'd never know it wasn't in your hand.

Good luck!!

Apex,
I like the mount but, not sure about the cable coiled up there.

09RKC,
The puck is not waterproof? You have to cover it with a baggie?

I'm told the z550 is water 'resistant', not 'proof'. With the puck/gps making sort of an assy I just cover the whole deal. Quick, easy and certainly not worth testing water issues on that expensive z550. I'll post pics if needed. Just got home from MIHN and dead tired...

The Zumo line is IPX7 water proof. No need for the baggie.

"IPX7 designation means the case can withstand accidental immersion in one meter of water for up to 30 minutes"

Unless you're running speakers; the Zumo 550 does not broadcast satellite radio via Bluetooth so you'll need an audio cable run under the tank to plug your earbuds into. I had been using a Bluetooth receiver with my ear buds to hear voice prompts and MP3's in the 550 but I ran a mini audio cable in preparation for getting the hockey puck and RAM mount plate.
