have the paperwork with you, but also be ready to accept the ticket and then go to court. the judge would prob. be more willing to hear you out about it being legal. people lie to the cops all the time. dont be surprised if he doesn't believe you on the side of the road.
I am a big fan of modulators. I have to think that it has to help avoid the left turn in front of you, didnt see you story that we read about all the time in this forum.
Thanks for the links, I have printed them and put them in my tour pack in case they are ever needed.
I have a copy of certain laws in my saddle bag right from the state web-site. Just in case. Cops enforce the law - some are not sure what that is in all cases.
Oh by the way I dont like those things either.
I think we have to be careful. Fed law says it is allowed, it does not say a State has to ok it. In other words, the feds say that light is ok to have on a bike, its safe and does not present a hazard. Each State can still say no.
Not trying to start a debate but I hate those things.
They are annoying and make me NOT want to look at the bike or turn my head away. Some drivers get pissed like you are high beaming them, like "get out of the way!". Furthermore, and I've witness this, some drivers freak out when they see them like you are emergency personnel. Drivers freaking out or pissed off at me is not something I want around me when I'm on my bike.
Maybe if the modulator was a little more subtle or slower it would make a difference (for me). I don't know...

not trying to change your mind , but ... personally i'd rather have a pissed off or freaked out driver , having already had the 'but officer , i didn't see him' thing twice (and i have the broken bones to prove it) . to me , if it increases drivers awareness of me and my motorcycle , then it's a good thing
