Default REALLY running hot - need help!

Here's the situation - 2009 FLTR, did a stage 1 upgrade in the fall of '09 (Bub7 TDs + Arlen Ness Big Sucker AC + PCV)....but didn't ride much as winter set-in & the bike got tucked-away. Now this year, I'm noticing some excessive heat, and a shakey idle when stuck in traffic, as well as some very minor decelleration popping. I had Jamie/FuelMoto tweek the PCV map, and now there's virtually no popping. But I still seem to have LOTS of heat when I'm not moving much (like stuck in traffic) and the idle gets shakey. I could understand this if I was in stand-still traffic on a 90-degree day, but it's more than that. Even last night - 9:30pm, mid-70's outside & stuck in traffic due to construction....same thing - felt LOTS of heat beneath me and a poor/shakey idle. This shouldn't happen at 70-degrees and NEVER happened with my prior Harleys. It seems to run/perform fine otherwise. What to do?

You just need to get the bike tuned.

You need to do what I did. Two things.

1. Remove the PC and get a good SERT tune.
2. Install an oil cooler.

My bike runs at 180 to 190 all day. Maxes out at 230 in traffic and cools down quickly once I get moving.

I've said this many times before . . . Our air and OIL COOLED bikes should all have oil coolers. Flame me if you want. That's my opinion and I'll stick to it.

Your bike is going into single cylinder mode (as it's supposed to) in high heat/low air flow situations. That's why you feel it being more 'shakey'.
I'd check your map, and get a good dyno tune for your setup. Go to an oil cooler; dino oil; etc only after you're sure the bike is tuned properly.

Seems like a well-tuned tuner (vs. piggy-backed PCV) & and oil cooler are good places to start. I know the TTS tuner has a HUGE following on this forum, although SERT may be easier to come-by. I'm already running dino oil.

Get the bike Dyno Tuned.
I swore at everyone who told me that.
Until I had it done.
