I had 16" apes on my train...poly bushings worked for me - no play or wiggle at all

Alloy art Gooden Tite or any other Polyurethane riser bushing. You should be using these with apes for sure. A one piece clamp will help as well as you know.

I installed a one piece clamp and poly bushings. BIG improvement. Got the bushings from Dennis Kirk.

With the bars you have, there is a lot more leverage on the clamp and bushings. I have +2 sweepers and I noticed it. Much be much more with those apes.

Do you get more vibration with the poly bushings? I was reading this thread and thought about that. I didn't change mine when I put the bars on but I am wondering if I should go back and do this.

Poly bushing are a must with apes. No extra vibration on my bars.
