Question Anyone remove the "condoms" from the gauge lights?

Hi all, the ride is an 09 FLHTCU.

This is about those condom looking gauge light bulb covers that make the gauges look yellow.
Has anyone removed those in order to turn the gauge lights to bulb 'white' from the OEM yellow?
Due to aged eyes I can't see the gauges as well as I would like, including the speedo and tachometer so thought this might be an easy fix.
It would be an easy job to fix up the standard gauge globes, but not sure about the speedo/tach.

I'm aware there are places like Iron Cross Audio who can replace all with a multi choice fo colour, but for me to send them to the USA from Oz and back would be too costly. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Regasrds,

You can do that on the gauges OTHER than the speedo and tach. Those require being taken apart etc. ie: no cheap and easy fix for those.

Thanks flyingace-- I suspected as much. I think it would look odd to have a mixture of white and yellow instruments/gauges...

I need to re-think this. Would love to have digital gauges by Dakota but the $$$ for those is out of reach for now.

Cheers!

SuperbrightLEDs.com has LED replacements for the four gauges for cheap! Check them out. I replaced mine with blue. There's a guy in the US who does both the speedo and tach LEDs for $125. I sent mine to him. The array of LEDs in those gauges is not plug and play and require some pretty serious soldering skills. It was worth every penny to have mine done.

I had Marty do my larger guages in white. Looks great. Hard part is finding leds that have the same white for the smaller guages. I ordered some from superbrightleds (not right white) and they are not expensive

Ols post but appreciate the input. What I did on the cheap was to replace the bulbs with 5 watt ones and reinstalled the condoms.
Brighter now and I can see them in more dim light and better at night.

Those blue ones would look cool though... maybe someday.
