Like the others mentioned you can get 100watt bulbs with the H4 pin styles on them. Yes they will draw more current and yes they will run hotter. Will they cause damage? I am not sure in all cases. Some say yes some no.

The stock or standard H4 is a 65/55 watt configuration. Brightness can be tricky. The reason is that where the bulb is configured on the Kelvin scale gives a different appearance at different times of the day. Sunlight is roughly 5250K. The closer that the bulb is to matching true sunlight the less noticeable it is in full sunlight. A regular halogen is down around 3000K and appears slightly yellow. It is more visible during the day.

At night the bulbs that are in the 5000k range appear more bluish white and tend to be very visible at night. They tend to make reflective surfaces jump out more. I use the extreme white plus which runs in the same range as the SilverStar White. It's appearance is almost pure white to a hint of blue. Above that they tend to get blue in appearance and some LEO's in some states take issue with them.

On the subject of brightness etc., has anyone noticed that the Road Glide head lights do not have that nasty looking shroud on front of them. A few months ago in a fit of pure boredom, I took off the head light from my Ultra and used a dremel to cut off the nasty shroud. It made a considerable difference to apparent brightness and also got rid of the halo effect that the light normally produces. Just saying.

Wattage is what makes for brighter light. 100/80w is quite high, considering your bike is made to run with a 65/55w bulb.

I've used these with very good results, no heat damage to the plug in.

Make sure you buy the ST version, which is motorcycle specific.

A 35w HID is three times brighter than a 55w halogen, uses a 1/4 less energy to operate and will last 2 1/2 times longer. Takes more abuse as well.
I have been using www.xenonrider.com bulbs (made in USA) for several years both on and off-road and have yet to have an issue.

The only thing I would caution is that the ballast needs to warm up a little before you start your bike; sometimes the light will kick out and will not re-fire if you just turn your key on and immediately start the engine. If this does happen, simply turn the bike off then restart.

You can see so much better with HID lighting!

I use the 9004 kit 6000k plasma white, takes about 30 minutes to install on late model batwing bikes. You'll definitely want the ultra slim ballast which is a free upgrade until the end of October. Best $129 you'll spend for your safety.

I got my HID from DDM Tuning for around $50... Great upgrade!

Any newer harley will handle the current draw of a 100/80 as long as you re-wire a ceramic headlight socket(ebay) into the harness. They won't melt the plastic plug all the time but sometimes they do. You don't want to have the bike that did.
