Speaker attatchment to rear pods

Speaker attatchment to rear pods
The other night when I stopped for fuel, I found my left rear speaker sitting on the seat behind me. 1 screw, speaker grill w/rubber grommet still attached to speaker wire. 1 rubber grommet still in pod. 3 screws and 2 grommets MIA. Is this common? Has anyone had this happen and has anyone come up with a better way to secure speaker to pod, other than the push in rubber grommets? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks,
Nate
UPDATE TO ORIGINAL POST...................
I found these on E-bay. They are almost identical to the original wellnuts in the speaker pods. They are a little longer overall, the barrel is thicker than the original, the head end is about twice as thick. I inserted them from the inside of the pod instead of from the outside in, like the original. I used a lock washer on the wellnut when inserting. Since they were longer, they allowed for the washer as back up. Since the barrel is thicker they were not easy to insert. I found by placing the wellnut in position and then threaded the screw into the nut a few turns and used the screw to pull the nuts into place. I also found getting the screws started when installing speakers and grills was much easier. When tightening the screws I could bear down on the screw to get it very tight and knew I wasn't pulling the wellnut out. They tightened up like any other screw and you could feel they were tight. I have been running them for nearly 2 weeks and so far so good. $6.00 for 12 wellnuts, had enough for both speakers and a few spares. I know others have had luck with other types of fasteners, c-clips etc, this is what I came up with and I think the problem is solved.

Too funny just the other day this happened to me also! I was not so lucky my J&M speaker was flip out of the pod riding on top of my saddles bag. I had be riding alone trucking down the freeway so the top of my bag is all scratched up. All of the grill screws and rubber grommits were all there. They had just poped out! Think I am going to try to figure out a way to bolt them in or use some silicone around the back of the speaker. I was so pissed but at least I still have the speaker.

Well at least I don't feel all alone now, sorry about the bag tops. Mine didn't get that far. The 1 screw and grommet kept the grill, screen and speaker together and was just sitting there on the seat. I did notice when doing the speaker change, that if you try to over tighten those screws it just pulls the grommets out. First attempt thought I had the unit all tight and then I just pulled at the speaker to check and I had the speaker grill , screws and grommets all tight but the screws had just pulled the grommets out. Maybe I, or someone else will come up with a better system. Thanks for the input.
