Speaker attatchment to rear pods
#11
Been there, done that, just a few weeks ago.
Went to the dealer, got some new well-nuts (the rubber grommet thingy with threads...also called expansion nuts) 50 cents a piece btw. Don't try and re-use them once they have been buggered up.
They fit just loose enough in the holes (I actually have hog-tunes speaker pods) that every time I tried to tighten em up, the thing would pull out of the hole before it expanded enough to hold it in.
1. Tried gluing it in with silicon caulk, no worky
2. Tried gluing the flange part down to the pod with superglue, no worky
Decided to try what I was GOING To do in the first place before I over-thought the whole mess. Wrapped the well nut with teflon tape (think plumbing) so it was snug enough to BARELY fit into the hole.
Wah-lah! Worked like a charm. Held fast.
Thought about the clip-nut idea, but I HATE those little buggers, and the odds of finding them with the right thread size would have been about NIL.
BTW, the trick with Well-nuts its to NOT over-tighten them. Get them snug, but if you keep going, you'll just pull it out of the hole.

Hogtunes pods
I'm having the same issue with the screws on my Hogtunes pods. Maybe someone can contact PEZ and find out what to do. I have a loose screw on each side but still have 3 out of 4 screws holding so far.
Those rubber things are called "well nuts" . . . I think. Well . . . they suck!
Too lazy right now to hunt down PEZ sorry.

Thanks, for the input. Let us know when you get PEZ's attention. I'll shoot him an e-mail as well. That's the guy that would know anyway. Well with the responses and suggestions, it looks like I'm not alone here and this thread has not been a waste of time. Thanks Guys!

I had this happen to both of my Infiniti speakers when I tried to use the stock well nuts. After one day of riding both speakers came out of the mounting holes. I trashed those and went with the metal c-clips (as in the drawing) that actually came with the Infiniti speakers. They've been perfect ever since.

Thanks, I did do a search and found a couple sites as well, a little more local in the US anyway. I need to get a few measurements and thread size before I can say anything more. Still working on it. Thanks for the input. 1 AM here will know more tomorrow. Plan to check a couple local hardware stores first. Won't be a tough fix if I can find the parts. Thanks again,
Nate
