Question on Rear Air Shock Removal
#13
[QUOTE=SafetyMan;13581897]Holy old thread Batman!!!
Kinda my thoughts too...
so either someone DOES know how to use the search function
(and if so, where are all the guys that bitch about those who don't? they should be given him a "atta boy"...)
or
someone is really bored while being stuck inside because of this weather.
I don't think I've ever seen a thread this old brought back to life...

According to the Harley service manual, if your stocks leak any oil at all they are toast. I know guys have refilled them now and then but just sayin what the Harley Bible sez. I just took my air shocks off my Road King today, I just taped them on the back of a leg on my work bench outa the way. They will always be vertical, won't leak, and be outa the way until I decide what to do with them.

that's a pretty good idea. but i guess the whole idea of this is that i'm sure if i were going to buy new shocks at the dealer, i bet they are lying horizontal on the shelves. i think i'll get that fitting and seal them or reconnect the air lines and pump some air into them.

Actually, those seals have always been replaceable. Just that Harley doesn't want you to know it for some reason. Part number 91257-MG9-671, costs about $10.
