Default Service manual pays for itself!

If anyone new to wrenching (like me) has reservations about getting the HD service manual and parts manual for your bike, don't think about it any longer and BUY IT! Just received my books and jumped right into it changing the primary fluid and adjusting the clutch. Going to dismantel the air cleaner system tonight to replace gaskets and rings to help reduce or eliminate the blow-by which might be a little excessive. While I'm in there I will lubricate and adjust the throttle. Having the part numbers for the job makes it easier at the dealership...saves a little time. It's also nice to get the exploded view of the systems in the parts manual to help with understanding the service manual instructions. Soon I will replace the fork oil.

I get a lot of satisfaction wrenching on my own bike and I save a ton of money. These manuals are a must.

I agree...I bought the manual on CD recently and I'm going to start doing my own work after this 10K checkup for free from the dealer (they owed me).

I agree, HD does an excellant job with their service manuals. They seem to written for the DIY, not a certified, trained specialist.

Ok, you've convinced me. I've been teetering on getting one but $60 seems a bit pricey. But I think I'm just gonna say "screw it" and pull the trigger.

Right up to the point where is says, "Connect the Breakout Box!"

My manuals have paid for themselves several times.

Get the Electrical Diagnostic Manual while yer at it...

What about older bikes?
I need one for a 99 FLHRCI. Electrical diagnostic manual...sounds handy!
You get the dealer to order one, or ebay, or what?
Need to know!!!!

I don't believe they have. There are bootleg CDs on eBay.

Service manual and parts manual are a must -- even for someone that is only going to do their own maintenance.
